Sales Assistant
Location: Oxford Yarn Store, 1 North Parade Avenue, Oxford, OX2 6LX
Part time: 25.5 hours
3 fixed midweek days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Oxford Yarn Store is a well-established yarn emporium located in our new bespoke store in the heart of Oxford on North Parade Avenue. We pride ourselves in offering excellent service, stocking a diverse range of local, sustainable yarns alongside more well-known brands, and a space for our lively community of crafters to play and experiment!

Responsibilities
- Assist customers finding the right yarns, patterns, and accessories for their projects, offering expert advice and recommendations to enhance their crafting experience.
- Maintain a good understanding of our products to effectively direct customers and, be able to confidently make alternative yarn or pattern suggestions for customers projects.
- Help keep the store neat and tidy, and looking its best.
- Process card and cash payments, in person and over the phone.
- Assist with stock inventory, restocking shelves, and processing incoming orders.
- Answer inbox and telephone queries politely, in a timely manner.
- Manage difficult situations with diplomacy and tact.
Person specification
- We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about knitting, crochet and/or fibre arts.
- Friendly, patient and has a proactive attitude.
- Comfortable helping customers from a diverse range of ages and backgrounds and a varying level of skills.
- Willing to develop in the role, contributing suggestions for how we can improve our offering in store and online.
- Punctual, reliable, and always wanting to do their best.
- Has some flexibility so is able to work holidays, and occasional evenings as required.
- Good working knowledge of IT, including email, website and social media.
Previous sales experience is desirable but not essential. On the job training will be provided.
